Fall 2026 - Spring 2027 TRYOUT INFORMATION
REGISTRATION INFORMATION
Please review the Travel Policies for the 2026-2027 Season regarding double rostering, team commitment, time commitment, playing time, and more on the TRAVEL POLICIES page.
Our goal is to offer an excellent program while keeping costs reasonable so all town youth can participate. We continue to offer a family discount and financial assistance.
There is no deposit due before tryouts. Once your child is offered a position and accepts, the balance will be due within 48 hours as part of your acceptance.
NOTE REGARDING PLAYMETRICS: For the Fall season, CJSA (our state parent association) is moving to a new operating system for its league management platform. The current system, Sports Connect (Blue Sombrero) is being phased out. CJSA has partnered with Playmetrics to host the state wide travel roster and league system.
Hartwell will be shifting its Travel registration to Playmetrics as well to stay current with CJSA’s operations. All travel families will need to open a new Playmetrics account if you don’t already have one. If you already have a Playmetrics account through participation in CFC or Vale, you can use that account. The flow in Playmetrics between the clubs on the same user account is straightforward and user friendly.

AGE GROUP SELECTION POLICY
See our website for information about the new age brackets:
https://www.glastonburysoccer.org/travel-program/travel-age-group-changes
The Board of Directors approved the following guidelines in applying the new age group configurations to new and returning Hartwell travel players - beginning the 2026–27 seasonal year (August 2026–June 2027):
New Hartwell Travel Players
- Must register and try out in the applicable age group under the new August 1–July 31 structure.
Returning Hartwell Travel Players born January 1–July 31
- Will remain in their current age group under the new structure and move up as usual.
Returning Hartwell Travel Players born August 1–December 31
May choose to either:
- Remain with their current age group and move up as usual,
OR
- Shift to the new age-defined group (typically aligning with school grade), which would result in repeating an age group year.
IMPORTANT: Once a Returning Hartwell Player has made his/her choice on an age group, and has tried out with that age group, that choice is final and will remain that player’s age group for the remainder of his/her Hartwell career.
NOTE: Any U8 players (born August 1, 2018 - July 31, 2019) that are selected for a U09 team in 2026-2027, must repeat in U09 for the following 2027-2028 season, and will thereafter play with their appropriate age group class.
PLAYER SELECTION/PLACEMENT/ACCEPTANCE: During tryouts, we use professional soccer trainers from both inside and outside our club to evaluate the players. It is important to the process that the trainers have no conflict of interest with our players. The evaluators supply impartial skill assessments and recommend the placement of players on teams. Assessments include data on the player’s soccer abilities, potential, commitment, and behavior/conduct.
GHSC notifies the player’s parents/guardians of tryout results via email, so ensure that you verify the email address provided to Hartwell during tryout registration. Email is the only means of communicating the team selections, offers, and acceptance. Parents/Guardians are asked to formally accept the player’s spot on a team within 48 hours of the offer notification.
Once players accept team placement offers, the rosters will be posted on our website. Team rosters must comply with various rules of competition, established by the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association “CJSA”). U9 and U10 teams play 7v7 with maximum team rosters of 12 players; U11 and U12 teams play 9v9 with maximum rosters of 16 players; U13 and U14/U15 teams play 11v11 and we typically cap rosters at 18 players.
Other than maximum roster limits set by CJSA, the roster sizes are only guidelines. Circumstances unique to an age/gender group could modify the team roster sizes and ultimately, placements from year to year, or even mid-season.
